The Eden Prairie Reads Committee is excited to announce that Garth Stein, author of The Art of Racing in the Rain, will be coming to speak to the community on April 19, 2016. The book was chosen for its overall appeal and insights into the human (and canine) condition.
This is a book that combines a philosophical dog, a race car driver and insight into how to live one’s life.
“The true hero is flawed. The true test of a champion is not whether he can triumph, but whether he can overcome obstacles – preferably of his own making – in order to triumph.” (from The Art of Racing in the Rain)
Eden Prairie Reads chair Jody Russell remarked, “You don’t need to be a dog lover or into cars to love this book. You will sit down and read this in a weekend. You will smile, laugh and maybe tear up. And hopefully you will take some nuggets of truth from this wonderful story.”
Garth Stein’s presentation will also include a moderated Q&A and book signing. Other activities are being planned and will be announced soon. More information and ticket sales for all events will be available at www.epreads.org.
“To separate oneself from the burden, the angst, the anguish that we all encounter everyday. To say I am alive, I am wonderful, I am. I am. That is something to aspire to.” (from The Art of Racing in the Rain)
