Do you like to read? Do you ever wish you had someone to talk to about the books you read?
Or maybe your book club needs a great book to read? Then consider joining your community
in a citywide read! This is the sixth year of the Eden Prairie Reads program and it's a fantastic
year to join the fun.
The 2009 book selection is Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace...One School at a Time
by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. This non-fiction book describes the author's experience following
his 1993 failed attempt to climb the daunting K2 mountain in Pakistan. The local villagers' kindness resulted
in his promise to return and build a school. Mortensen did more than that. He built fifty-five schools. This is
the story of his promise to the villagers - and to himself.
We will be holding community-wide book discussions and related events in March 2009.
Pick up a copy of Three Cups of Tea and be ready for the spring conversation!
